Thursday Night Rides - From our Fearless Ride Leader!

Thursday, May 17
Hey you gals....did you know that every thursday the club offers a training ride just for you!! Yes indeed, come out and meet some new cycling friends and get a bonus of some quality training time.
For this week, we will meet at Mighty Riders shop, East Broadway & Ontario at 6pm. From here we will head out toward UBC via the bike route on 7th ave.
The efforts will take us past the beaches to enjoy some of the sun before heading up the Spanish banks climb to complete our effort. This combines some of our training from the past couple of weeks, with flat and climbing, terrain to suit all riders!!
The weather is suppose to be fabulous...hope to see everyone out!!

Thursday, May 10

Okay gals, grab those "big rings" and bump up the tires that extra bit.....as we head to the flatlands for some speed work this week!! Two weeks of climbing to start the building of leg strength, now let's turn that into some speed on the flats.

6pm ride start. Meeting at Pacific Multi-Sport shop, 28th & Main. From the shop we will head out the Ontario bike route to Richmond, the airport and Iona beach.  The workout will include some paceline efforts, so call your friends, neighbours, in-laws and anyone else that is interested to ride in our group. Not sure what I'm talking about for "paceline efforts"?, not to worry we'll show ya how it's done.

Forecast is for some mighty fine weather.....see everyone Thursday

Thursday, May 3

In an effort to create some consistency for the ride, I'm going to suggest that we repeat the route of last week with the hopes more club members can make it out this week. Intensity focus is with climbing up SFU.

Meeting at 6pm at Adanac bike route at Clarke.

We will leave Adanac @ Clarke at 6pm and ride along the Adanac bike route into Burnaby. Once at the base of SFU, similar to last week, we will ride up Curtis to the main intersection and ride down Gaglardi and back up Gaglardi to the top of the mtn then descend down to Hastings. Adanac bike route for the ride back.

The weather isn't suppose to be that great, so come prepared with rain gear and warm clothes for the descent. Look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.

Thursday, April 26

Welcome to the first of the Ellevation club spring training rides!!

Thursday April 26th at 6pm for approximately 2 hours of riding. The ride will start on the Adanac bike route at Clark.  From here we will ride out to SFU and start the efforts climbing.

Please come prepared for all weather, the ride is rain or shine. Have your bike in good mechanical repair and please carry a pump, spare tube and the knowledge to change a flat.  I look forward to seeing everyone at 6pm sharp and if you're late, you know where we'll be!!

Thursday Night Club Rides

This spring and summer Ellevation Club Rides will be held on Thursday evenings at 6pm. Rides start Thursday, April 26th.  We are super excited to announce that these rides will be led by Judy Latoski, a great coach with extensive experience racing at the national and international levels. Meet up location will be somewhere in East Vancouver, along the Adanac bike route and may vary depending on the location of the ride. Stay tuned for more details on location.

Club rides are for club members. If you are interested in joining Ellevation you are welcome to join us for 1-2 rides to check us out.

Rides will be structured so that they end with enough time for folks to ride home while it is still light out. That said, I recommend you have at least a couple of frog lights on your bike.

Winter 2012

It is January, 2012 and most of Ellevation is taking a hiatus from the road and is more likely to be found on the cross-country trails of one of BC's fine nordic facilities. Cross country skiing is a great way to get outside and stay in shape over the winter. Actually, get in better shape because nothing whips you into shape like skate skiing. Unless it is skate skiing while towing a Chariot which is Sarah's plan for getting back into shape!. No date has been set for when club rides will resume in the spring.

Spring Training - Monday nights

The Ellevation club will be hosting 4 Monday night coached sessions starting March 21 (6:30-8). If you’re available on Monday nights, please join us! These are not ‘learn to’ sessions but directed more to getting out and doing some training with club members while getting some reminders and tips to carry through into the spring season. Rachel Canning will be working with us for these 4 sessions.

The sessions will be outdoors, on the west side of Vancouver (UBC to Queen E). The cost for Ellevation Club members is $20 (ie $5 per session). Non club members are also welcome at $35 (all must have Cycling BC insurance). The sessions should be a lot of fun!
